Sustainable business practices
| We have an acute awareness of the need for durability and longevity, across all our businesses, and an ingrained understanding of the practices that underpin sustainability. Our approach to sustainability is documented throughout this integrated report and further detail can be found on our website. The King Code recommends that a company integrates financial and non-financial reporting. It is for this reason that Investec has chosen not to present a separate sustainability report this year. This integrated annual report to stakeholders reflects how economic, social and environmental issues have impacted on our business strategy and, in turn how these are considered when making business decisions. The sustainability information in this report aims to present a balanced analysis of the group’s sustainability performance in relation to issues that are relevant and material to Investec and its stakeholders. We have been assisted in this regard by the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) G3.1 Sustainability Reporting Guidelines and an index of these indicators together with our response to each of them can be found in the remuneration report. We have self-assessed our reporting to be Application Level B. Certain elements of the sustainability information in this report have been verified by the group Internal Audit division. A copy of their assurance statement can be found in the section pertaining to how we manage sustainable development. |
